This class, or equivalent knowledge, is a strongly recommended for any Live Microsoft Power BI Desktop class. The Microsoft Certified Instructor will walk you through the steps involved in installing Power BI Desktop on your Windows system, unpacking the exercise files that are needed for the classes, obtaining a Power BI Pro license, and ensuring smooth access to Office 365 and the Microsoft Store.

If you already have the latest version of Power BI Desktop installed on your system and feel comfortable upgrading to the Pro license, unzipping files, accessing Office 365 and the Microsoft store, there is no need for this class. This class is for people who may not feel comfortable finding, downloading and installing files needed for class.

All Power BI Desktop classes will require the Power BI Desktop program be loaded and exercise files unzipped. It is also helpful to have the Pro level license. There will be no time allotted for these tasks in other classes.

PLEASE NOTE:

• You should check with IT before completing these tasks on your corporate network. It is recommended that you share this description with IT before taking the class.
• All of the steps cannot be displayed because some require restarting of the system. I will show the downloading but not installing of Power BI Desktop. The installation should be quite self-explanatory.
