Jon teaches how to clap and play the blues rhythm with an A power chord. It is essential to first know this rhythm before playing the blues as it is the foundation upon which most blues songs are written. 

Blues songs are typically played in the form of a 1 - 4 - 5 progression. Jon teaches some important theory on how to identify the 1 - 4 - 5 notes of any key with a simple shortcut. 

Jon takes the 1 - 4 - 5 progression and shows how it is commonly played over 12 bars. He explains in detail the rhythm and number of times each chord is played. 

Blues guitarists frequently use chord variations in the final 4 bars of the 12 Bar Blues Form. In this lesson, Jon takes us through one of the most common variations using the 5 chord. 

Jon teaches a blues turn around technique which is a common half step rhythm played in blues music.
